Chad Bennett earned a B.A. in English from Stanford University, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing (Poetry) from the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, and a Ph.D. in English from Cornell University. He serves as associate professor of English at the University of Texas at Austin.
Bennett is the author of Word of Mouth: Gossip and American Poetry (2018), and his essays have appeared in ELH, Twentieth-Century Literature, Modern Drama, Arizona Quarterly, ASAP/Journal, and Cinema Journal. His debut collection of poems, Your New Feeling Is the Artifact of a Bygone Era (2020), was chosen by Ocean Vuong as winner of the Kathryn A. Morton Prize in 2018.
His poetry has appeared in journals including Colorado Review, Denver Quarterly, Fence, Gulf Coast, jubilat, The Offing, and The Volta, and his work has been reprinted by Poetry Daily and Verse Daily.
