Allison Benis White
Allison Benis White earned an M.F.A. from the University of California, Irvine. She currently is an associate professor in the Department of Creative Writing at the University of California, Riverside.
White is the author of The Wendys (2020), Please Bury Me in This (2017), winner of the Rilke Prize and a Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award, and Small Porcelain Head (2013), selected by Claudia Rankine for the Levis Prize in Poetry and named a finalist for the PEN Center USA Literary Award and the California Book Award. Her debut collection, Self-Portrait with Crayon, received the Cleveland State University Poetry Center First Book Prize.
White has received honors and awards from the Poetry Society of America, the San Francisco Foundation, the Academy of American Poets, and Poets & Writers magazine. She also has been recognized with a Walter E. Dakin Fellowship to the Sewanee Writer’s Conference and an Emerging Writer Fellowship from the Writer’s Center.
