Awards For Best Original Work in Poetry and Fiction
Submission Deadline: March 1, 2024
Winners will be announced on March 21, with the award ceremony and reading to be held at 3:30 p.m., April 3, in Armstrong Browning Library
The Department of English at Baylor University offers a variety of awards and prizes to recognize outstanding creative writing by undergraduate and graduate students. Entries will be judged by professional poets and authors.
Entry Procedure
The Beall Poetry Festival's student literary contest is open to all undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at Baylor. You may submit work that you have submitted to other contests. Qualified applicants may submit either or both of the following:
- One poetry entry (not exceeding 2 pages)
- One fiction entry (not exceeding 25 pages double spaced)
Please list your name, ID number, telephone number, and e-mail address at the top of each entry. To submit, email your piece(s) to beallstudentcontest@gmail.com by the deadline. Entries will be considered for all eligible prizes.

- Second place: Poetry in the Arts - Dr. Robert G. Collmer Prize $200
- Third place: Poetry in the Arts - Dr. Jesse T. Airaudi Prize $200
